I will get caught up on this blog! I am almost caught up and current! I did start solid blogging in March of this year, so I'll do a little archive of Jan and Feb and call it good.
Seems I started 2020 with a flashback of the previous decade. I see you, Vancouver 2010 Olympics.
But January was a lot of hanging out, like this.
I got eager to strip the varnish off the baseboards in our guest bedroom, then try and repaint it. Eventually I got smart and hired someone who ripped it all out and then did new trim. But I wouldn't figure that out til May.
The wet bandits.
Got excited about planning a trip to Japan in April! We all know how that turned out. Sister in law and I made plans to go. Will we end up going together another time? Or will we just go on our own time later?
Finally hung up a towel bar in the bathroom that doesn't fall down. Not as easy as it looks though, when you have old plaster walls. They are tough.
Made chicken noodle soup for the first time ever.
Sweeties.
This is winter at our house. Don't mind Anthony's belly.
Keepin' up the Christmas card cheer for awhile.
Work from the Pleasant Grove office. Funny to realize months later that I no longer work at this company and that they have closed this office.
And I worked at that office that Friday so I could rush home to these kiddos and take care of them fo ra few days while their parents were gone. They were thrilled.
Anthony took the little guy for a hike while I took the girls to a huge indoor playground. I was hoping to get 2 hours out of it, and about 20 minutes in they were tired. Hmm.
But candy wins!
They also really wanted to come to our house to see the kitties. It worked out pretty well.
We made them do chores.
And while H was at school, Q and I curled her hair and then I put sparkly eyeshadow on her face. She was very pleased.
Pretty snow.
Remember movies? This was a good one. We saw it at the fancy theater in Holladay.
Cat in window.
Cat in arms. She's the best.
Got new baking sheets for Christmas, so we made lots of roasted dinners.
Getting around to that varnish stripping. It was a dumb idea. Just pay a pro.
More grilling. I think we did tacos, and I only like them at home if I can have all the toppings.
Time for Sundance! Best time. Once again, full of international documentaries.
Here is Hatice Cengiz, the fiance of Jamal Khashoggi. Powerful and sad film. Amazing that she was there.
I guess I still had purple in my hair.
Pizza at Nono then a film at Tower Theater. Perfect night.
Miss my old neighborhood.
This was The Trade from Matthew Heineman, with a film subject who is doing dangerous work and had to keep his face covered. Also amazing that he came.
I should get more Brownies regularly. This is a great little shop.
This Iranian film won a Grand Jury prize - Jacinda and I caught this one together.
Closed out January with Telefon Tel Aviv suuuper late at night. Definitely napped before it. Who has a headliner go on at 1am anymore? But someday when concerts return, I will go at any hour.
